Description

Enjoy the authentic taste of Vietnamese iced coffee with this simple recipe that combines rich coffee and sweetened condensed milk over ice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely ground dark roast coffee
  • 4 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup hot water
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Place the coarsely ground coffee in a Vietnamese coffee filter (phin) or a drip coffee maker. If using a phin, add the sweetened condensed milk to the bottom of a glass.
  2. Pour about 2 tablespoons of hot water over the coffee grounds to bloom them for about 30 seconds.
  3. Slowly pour the remaining hot water over the coffee grounds, allowing it to drip through. This should take about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Once the coffee has fully dripped, stir the mixture to combine the coffee with the sweetened condensed milk.
  5. Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the coffee mixture over the ice. Stir well before serving.

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, increase the amount of coffee to 3 tablespoons or use a darker roast.
  • If you prefer a less sweet version, reduce the amount of sweetened condensed milk or substitute it with a splash of milk or cream.
