Description
A delicious and easy recipe for turkey meatballs served with marinara sauce, perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes. Mix until well combined, but do not overmix.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the meatballs. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and let them simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes.
- Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with extra parsley and Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
- For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat breadcrumbs or almond flour for regular breadcrumbs.
- Add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or onions to the meatball mixture for extra flavor and nutrition.
