Description
Tub Tim Grob is a traditional Thai dessert made with sweet potato balls served in a creamy coconut milk sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup tapioca flour
- 1/2 cup water (for dough)
- 1/2 cup red sweet potato, peeled and diced into small cubes
- 1/4 cup crushed ice
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the tapioca flour with 1/2 cup of water to form a dough. Knead until smooth.
- Take small portions of the dough and flatten them in your palm. Place a cube of red sweet potato in the center and wrap the dough around it, rolling it into a ball. Repeat until all the dough and sweet potato are used.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop the sweet potato balls into the boiling water. Cook until they float to the surface, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a bowl of cold water to cool.
- Once cooled, drain the sweet potato balls and place them in serving bowls. Pour the coconut milk mixture over the top.
- Serve with crushed ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a different flavor, try adding a few drops of pandan extract to the coconut milk mixture.
- You can substitute the red sweet potato with other types of sweet potatoes or even taro for a unique twist.
