Description
A delicious and moist Tres Leches Cake soaked in three types of milk, topped with whipped cream and fresh fruit.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup whole milk (for milk mixture)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for topping)
- Fresh fruit for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.
- Poke holes all over the top of the warm cake using a fork or skewer. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Before serving, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the top of the cake.
- Garnish with fresh fruit if desired. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with Greek yogurt for the topping.
- You can also add a splash of rum or coconut extract to the milk mixture for an extra flavor twist.
