Description
A delicious and moist Tres Leches Cake soaked in three types of milk, topped with whipped cream and optional garnishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for whipped cream)
- Fresh fruit or cinnamon for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk. Mix until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and 1/2 cup of heavy cream in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
- Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a fork.
- Slowly pour the milk mixture over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in. Let the cake cool completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- Before serving, whip the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Spread or pipe the whipped cream over the top of the cake.
- Garnish with fresh fruit or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired. Slice and serve chilled.
Notes
- For a chocolate version, add 1/2 cup of cocoa powder to the dry ingredients and adjust the sugar to taste.
- Experiment with different flavors by adding a splash of rum or almond extract to the milk mixture for a unique twist.
