Description

Seared Tuna Wasabi Cream Pickled Ginger Sesame Plate delights taste buds!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sushi-grade tuna steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (toasted)
  • 1/4 cup pickled ginger
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (for wasabi cream)
  • 1 tablespoon wasabi paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the wasabi cream. In a small bowl, combine sour cream, wasabi paste, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth and well combined. Adjust the wasabi to your preferred spice level. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Pat the tuna steak dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the tuna steak in the skillet.
  4. Sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if you prefer it more cooked. The outside should be nicely browned while the inside remains pink.
  5. Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Slice the tuna into thin strips.
  6. On a serving plate, arrange the sliced tuna. Drizzle the wasabi cream over the top and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Add pickled ginger on the side.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add a few drops of sriracha to the wasabi cream.
  • Serve with a side of steamed rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
