- 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk (whole or your choice)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add the milk, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper to the sweet potatoes.
- Mash the sweet potatoes using a potato masher or a hand mixer until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor, add 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup or brown sugar.
- Top with toasted pecans or marshmallows for added texture and flavor.
