Description
Delicious low carb scones made with bacon, cheddar, and onions, perfect for a savory snack.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups almond flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and chopped green onions to the dry ingredients. Mix until evenly distributed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, almond milk, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms. If the dough is too crumbly, add a little more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface (using almond flour) and gently knead it a few times until it comes together.
- Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut it into 8 wedges. Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown on top.
- Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, serve warm with a pat of butter.
- You can add spices like garlic powder or smoked paprika for extra flavor.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the bacon with sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
