Description

Lorne Sausage is a delicious and versatile dish made from a blend of ground meats and spices, perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Mix well until combined.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, parsley, salt, black pepper, paprika, coriander, cumin, cayenne pepper (if using), Worcestershire sauce, and egg to the meat mixture.
  3. Using your hands, mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Shape the mixture into rectangular patties, about 1/2 inch thick. You should get about 8-10 patties.
  5. Preheat a skillet or grill over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with your choice of sides, such as baked beans, fried eggs, or in a sandwich.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more cayenne pepper or some chopped jalapeños to the mixture.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option while still keeping the flavor by adjusting the seasoning.
