Description
Indulge in a decadent chocolate delight with this rich and gooey Lava Cake recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Butter and cocoa powder for greasing ramekins
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with cocoa powder, tapping out the excess.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gradually stir in the melted chocolate mixture until smooth.
- Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them on a baking sheet for easier handling.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute.
- Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift to release the cake. Serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a tablespoon of espresso powder to the chocolate mixture.
- You can also substitute the semi-sweet chocolate with dark chocolate for a more intense taste.
