Description

A creamy and delicious hummus served with warm pita bread, perfect for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Pita bread, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. If the hummus is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if desired.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with a little extra olive oil on top.
  6. To prepare the pita, cut it into wedges and warm it in a toaster oven or on a skillet over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes until soft.
  7. Serve the hummus with warm pita wedges for dipping.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the hummus before blending.
  • Experiment with different toppings such as chopped parsley, paprika, or roasted red peppers for added flavor and presentation.
