Description
A creamy classic recipe for hummus that is easy to make and delicious.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed (about 2-4 tablespoons)
- Paprika and extra olive oil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, and a pinch of salt.
- Blend the mixture until smooth. If the hummus is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or lemon juice if needed.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with paprika for garnish, if desired.
- Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or use as a spread in sandwiches.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the mixture before blending.
- Experiment with flavors by adding roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, or fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro for a unique twist.
