Description
Goulash (Hungary) is a delicious, hearty recipe!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet or pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion, garlic, and green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the elbow macaroni to the pot, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked and the sauce has thickened.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, cover, and let it melt for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes or a diced jalapeño when sautéing the vegetables.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, or use a plant-based meat alternative for a vegetarian version.
