Description

Fried Ice Cream is a delicious Mexican dessert that combines the creaminess of ice cream with a crispy outer layer, making it a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup cornflakes, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Chocolate syrup (for drizzling)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Cherries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Scoop the vanilla ice cream into 4 balls, approximately 1/2 cup each. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 2 hours or until solid.
  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the crushed cornflakes and ground cinnamon. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, egg, and milk until smooth.
  3. Remove the ice cream balls from the freezer. Dip each ball into the flour mixture, then roll it in the cornflake mixture, pressing gently to coat evenly. Repeat this process for all ice cream balls.
  4. Return the coated ice cream balls to the freezer for an additional 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  6. Carefully place one or two ice cream balls in the hot oil and fry for about 10-15 seconds until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve immediately, drizzled with chocolate syrup, topped with whipped cream, and garnished with a cherry.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try using chocolate or strawberry ice cream instead of vanilla.
  • Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts or shredded coconut to the cornflake mixture for extra crunch and flavor.
