- 2 cups Greek yogurt (plain, full-fat)
- 1 cup unsweetened black cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup chia seeds
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, black cocoa powder, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
- Stir in the chia seeds, vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt until fully incorporated.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve the cake chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of espresso powder to the batter.
- You can also substitute the chocolate chips with nuts or dried fruit for added texture.
