Description
Savory Chicken and Vegetable Dumplings
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1/2 cup carrots, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water and vegetable oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the shredded chicken, carrots, cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil until well combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles using a 3-inch round cutter.
- Place a tablespoon of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully add the dumplings and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
- Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, substitute the chicken with tofu and add more vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers.
- Experiment with different dipping sauces, such as a spicy chili oil or a vinegar-based sauce, to enhance the flavor.
