Description
Cocada is a traditional Brazilian coconut treat that is sweet, chewy, and absolutely irresistible.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups shredded coconut (unsweetened)
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or almonds)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish (8×8 inches) with butter.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt. If using nuts, fold them in at this stage.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined and the coconut is evenly coated with the condensed milk.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges start to pull away from the sides of the dish.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the dish for about 10 minutes. Then, cut into squares or bars while still warm.
- Let the treats cool completely before serving.
Notes
- For a chocolate twist, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the top after cooling.
- You can also substitute the nuts with dried fruits like raisins or cranberries for added flavor and texture.
