Discover the secret to crispy perfection with these delicious churros, perfect for dipping in chocolate sauce or dulce de leche.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 large eggs
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the flour and cinnamon until the mixture forms a ball. Let it cool for about 5 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy. If desired, stir in the vanilla extract.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 6-inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
- Remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still warm, roll them in a mixture of granulated sugar and additional cinnamon if desired.
- Serve immediately with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
Notes
- For a chocolate twist, add 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to the flour mixture for chocolate churros.
- Experiment with different coatings by using powdered sugar or flavored sugar mixtures for a unique taste.
