Description
Chocotorta is a delicious Argentine dessert made with layers of chocolate cookies, cream cheese, and dulce de leche.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 packages (14.1 ounces each) chocolate cookies (such as Chocolinas or any chocolate wafer cookies)
- 2 cups cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups dulce de leche
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Cocoa powder for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- In a shallow dish, pour the milk. Quickly dip each chocolate cookie into the milk, ensuring they are soaked but not falling apart.
- In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the soaked cookies in a single layer to cover the bottom of the dish.
- Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the layer of cookies.
- Add another layer of soaked cookies on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Spread the remaining cream cheese mixture over the second layer of cookies.
- Finish with a final layer of soaked cookies on top.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder if desired. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a layer of chocolate ganache on top before refrigerating.
- You can also substitute the dulce de leche with Nutella for a chocolate-hazelnut twist.
