Description
Indulge in this easy and delicious Chocolate Lava Cake recipe that features a gooey chocolate center.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust with flour, tapping out any excess. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet for easy handling.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and granulated sugar until pale and slightly thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture until well combined.
- Gently fold in the flour, salt, and vanilla extract until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges of each ramekin, then invert onto individual plates.
- Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
- Add a tablespoon of espresso powder to the batter for a mocha twist.
