Description
Indulge in this decadent Chocolate Lava Cake recipe that features a gooey chocolate center.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Butter and cocoa powder for greasing ramekins
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder, tapping out the excess.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar to the chocolate mixture and stir until well combined.
- Add the eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully incorporated.
- Gently fold in the flour and salt until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them on a baking sheet for easier handling.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- Remove from the oven and let the cakes sit for 1 minute. Carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen, then invert each ramekin onto a plate.
- Let sit for another minute before lifting the ramekin off.
- Serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh berries.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try using dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.
- If you want to add a twist, incorporate a tablespoon of espresso powder into the batter for a mocha flavor.
