Description

A quick and delicious recipe for Butter Paneer, a popular Indian dish made with paneer and a rich, creamy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound paneer, cubed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the tomato puree, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oil begins to separate from the mixture.
  4. Add the cubed paneer to the skillet and gently stir to coat the paneer with the sauce.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and water, stirring well to combine. Simmer for another 5 minutes on low heat.
  6. Finish by adding the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and stir until melted. Garnish with chopped cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add more red chili powder or include diced green chilies.
  • Substitute heavy cream with coconut milk for a dairy-free option while maintaining a rich flavor.
