Description
Sweet and Savory Korean Beef Bulgogi
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium carrot, julienned
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, vegetable oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
- Add the sliced beef and mix well to coat. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for more flavor.
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
- Add the sliced onion and carrot to the pan and stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if using, and cook for another minute.
- Serve hot over steamed rice or with lettuce leaves for wrapping.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the marinade.
- You can substitute the beef with thinly sliced chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
