Description
Brigadeiro is a traditional Brazilian chocolate treat that is easy to make and deliciously sweet.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate sprinkles (for rolling)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and butter. Stir continuously to prevent sticking.
- Cook the mixture for about 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan. You’ll know it’s ready when you can see the bottom of the pan for a few seconds when you stir.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased plate or bowl and let it cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, grease your hands with a little butter and scoop out small amounts of the mixture, rolling them into balls about the size of a cherry.
- Roll the balls in chocolate sprinkles until fully coated.
- Place the brigadeiros in mini cupcake liners or on a serving plate.
Notes
- For a twist, try adding a pinch of sea salt to the mixture for a salted chocolate flavor.
- You can also substitute the cocoa powder with other flavors like matcha or crushed nuts for a unique variation.
