Description

Banana Roti is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat that combines ripe bananas with simple ingredients to create a delightful dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar (if using). Mix until well combined.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. You may need to adjust the water amount depending on the consistency of the dough.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  4. On a floured surface, flatten each ball into a round disc about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the coconut oil or butter.
  6. Cook each roti for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  7. Remove from the skillet and keep warm while you cook the remaining rotis.

Notes

  • For a sweeter version, add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the dough.
  • You can serve the banana roti with honey or maple syrup for a delicious breakfast treat.
  • For a savory twist, try adding chopped herbs or spices to the dough before cooking.
