Description
Crispy and easy Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks recipe perfect for snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces string cheese (mozzarella)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Cooking spray
- Marinara sauce (for dipping)
Instructions
- Cut each string cheese stick in half to create 16 pieces.
- Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second shallow dish, and combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning in a third shallow dish.
- Coat each mozzarella stick first in flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated. Repeat this process for all cheese sticks.
- Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a plate or tray and freeze them for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the frozen mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching.
- Air fry the mozzarella sticks for 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the cheese is melted, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
- Carefully remove the mozzarella sticks from the air fryer and let them cool for a minute before serving with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Try using different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or cheddar, for a unique flavor twist.
