Description

Sticky Cherry Chicken Thighs are a sweet and savory dish that combines juicy chicken with a rich cherry sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 lb bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling (or 1 cup thawed frozen cherries + 2–3 Tbsp water)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F/200°C.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cherry pie filling, soy sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ground ginger, black pepper, and salt (add water if using pie filling to loosen).
  3. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet and sear for 5–7 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Flip the chicken thighs, pour the cherry sauce over them.
  6. Cover the skillet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  7. Uncover and continue baking for an additional 10–12 minutes until the internal temperature reaches approximately 175°F and the sauce is bubbly.
  8. If needed, simmer the sauce on the burner for 2–3 minutes to thicken.
  9. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, simmer longer on the stove.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey based on preference.
