Description
Sticky Cherry Chicken Thighs are a sweet and savory dish that combines juicy chicken with a rich cherry sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lb bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1 cup cherry pie filling (or 1 cup thawed frozen cherries + 2–3 Tbsp water)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F/200°C.
- In a bowl, whisk together cherry pie filling, soy sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, ground ginger, black pepper, and salt (add water if using pie filling to loosen).
- Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
- Place chicken thighs skin-side down in the skillet and sear for 5–7 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip the chicken thighs, pour the cherry sauce over them.
- Cover the skillet and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
- Uncover and continue baking for an additional 10–12 minutes until the internal temperature reaches approximately 175°F and the sauce is bubbly.
- If needed, simmer the sauce on the burner for 2–3 minutes to thicken.
- Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, simmer longer on the stove.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey based on preference.
