Description

A delicious recipe for Spiced Lamb Kofta served with a spicy yogurt dip, perfect for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup thick Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons spicy chili paste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, panko breadcrumbs, diced onion, chopped garlic, cilantro, dill, cumin, coriander, paprika, nutmeg, sea salt, black pepper, and the beaten egg. Blend the ingredients thoroughly until they form a cohesive mixture.
  3. With your hands, form the mixture into elongated kofta shapes, approximately 2-3 inches in length, and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Place the kofta in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are fully cooked and have a delightful golden-brown crust.
  5. While the kofta are baking, prepare the Spicy Yogurt Dip by whisking together the Greek yogurt, spicy chili paste, lime juice, salt, and black pepper in a separate bowl until smooth.
  6. After the kofta have finished baking, allow them to cool slightly before serving.
  7. Present the kofta warm alongside the Spicy Yogurt Dip for dipping.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, consider adding a dash of chili flakes to the kofta mixture.
  • Ground chicken or pork can also be used as an alternative to lamb.
  • Pair with warm pita and a refreshing cucumber salad for a satisfying meal.
