Description

A healthy twist on fries using roasted turnips served with a spicy aioli.


Ingredients

  • 2 large turnips, peeled and cut into fry shapes (about 2 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Spicy Aioli:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the turnip fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the turnip fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  4. While the fries are roasting, prepare the spicy aioli. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sriracha, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt. Mix well until smooth.
  5. Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with the spicy aioli on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For a sweeter flavor, try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon to the turnip fries before roasting.
  • If you prefer a creamier aioli, substitute Greek yogurt for half of the mayonnaise.
