Description

Savory Spiced Lamb Balls with Creamy Tahini Sauce

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for frying

For the Creamy Tahini Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup tahini paste
  • 1/4 cup water (adjust as needed)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, panko breadcrumbs, parsley, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and egg. Use your hands to mix until everything is evenly incorporated.
  3. Shape the mixture into small balls, roughly the size of a golf ball.
  4. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Carefully add the lamb balls in batches, cooking them until they develop a golden-brown crust, about 5 minutes.
  5. After browning, transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the lamb balls are fully cooked.
  6. While the lamb balls are in the oven, prepare the creamy tahini sauce. In a bowl, mix together the tahini, water, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If it’s too thick, add more water to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Once the lamb balls are cooked, serve them hot alongside the creamy tahini sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, feel free to add a dash of cayenne pepper to the lamb mixture.
  • You can also experiment with ground beef or turkey as alternatives to lamb for a different flavor profile.
