Savory Turkish Beef Kofta with Creamy Garlic Yogurt Dip

- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin

- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (for the dip)

- 1 tablespoon fresh dill or parsley, chopped (optional for the dip)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with the grated onion, minced garlic, parsley, mint, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt, black pepper, and optional cayenne. Use your hands to thoroughly blend the ingredients until evenly mixed.
- Shape the mixture into 8 equal-sized patties, forming them into elongated ovals or sausage shapes.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the kofta and cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned and fully cooked. Alternatively, you can grill the kofta on a preheated grill for about 10-12 minutes, turning them occasionally for even cooking.
- While the kofta is cooking, prepare the creamy garlic yogurt dip by combining Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and dill or parsley in a small bowl. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Once the kofta is ready, serve them warm, topped with a generous spoonful of the creamy garlic yogurt dip. Enjoy!
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add more cayenne pepper to the kofta mixture.
- Feel free to substitute the herbs in the dip based on your preference.
