Description
Crispy Halloumi Sticks with Herbed Aioli
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces halloumi cheese, sliced into sticks (approximately 1/2 inch thick)
- 1/4 cup coconut flour
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup avocado oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon mixed dried herbs (like oregano, thyme, and basil)
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Start by making the Herbed Aioli. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, mixed dried herbs, lime juice, chopped garlic, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Set aside in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the halloumi sticks.
- In a shallow plate, combine the coconut flour, onion powder, smoked paprika, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir until everything is evenly mixed.
- Heat the avocado oil in a large frying pan over medium heat until shimmering.
- Coat each halloumi stick in the coconut flour mixture, ensuring they are fully covered.
- Once the oil is ready, gently place the coated halloumi sticks in the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn a beautiful golden brown and develop a crispy exterior.
- Transfer the fried halloumi sticks to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Serve the crispy halloumi sticks warm, accompanied by the refreshing Herbed Aioli for dipping.
Notes
- For an extra layer of flavor, mix in a pinch of chili flakes into the coconut flour mixture.
- Feel free to swap the dried herbs with your preferred seasoning blend for a unique twist.
