Description

Keto Feijoada Bowl is a flavorful low-carb dish that combines various meats and vegetables, perfect for those following a ketogenic diet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pork shoulder, diced
  • 8 ounces smoked sausage, sliced
  • 4 ounces bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pot.
  2. Add the diced pork shoulder to the pot and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the smoked sausage, onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Cover and reduce heat to low. Let it simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  6. After 1 hour, add the green beans and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the beans are tender.
  7. Serve the feijoada in bowls, topped with diced avocado, crispy bacon, and fresh cilantro.

Notes

  • For added heat, include diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper during cooking.
  • Substitute the pork shoulder with beef brisket or chicken thighs for a different flavor profile.
