Ingredients

  • 2 pounds flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Mojo Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the flank steak, then drizzle with olive oil and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.
  3. While the steak is marinating, prepare the mojo sauce. In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined. Stir in the chopped cilantro and set aside.
  4. Grill the flank steak for about 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  5. Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve with the mojo sauce drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For added flavor, marinate the steak overnight in the spice rub and olive oil.
