Description

Keto Brik with Tuna & Egg (Algerian Style) is an irresistible snack or appetizer featuring crispy phyllo pockets filled with a savory mixture of tuna and eggs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 can (5 ounces) tuna in water, drained
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 large sheets of low-carb phyllo dough or almond flour wraps
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl until well beaten.
  2. Incorporate the drained tuna, chopped parsley, green onions, lemon juice, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper into the eggs. Stir thoroughly until evenly combined.
  3. Lay a sheet of phyllo dough or an almond flour wrap flat on a clean surface.
  4. Spoon a quarter of the tuna and egg mixture onto the center of the sheet.
  5. Fold the edges over the filling and carefully roll it up to create a sealed pocket.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining sheets and filling.
  7. In a large frying pan, pour enough oil to cover the bottom and heat it over medium heat.
  8. Once the oil is shimmering, gently place the prepared phyllo pockets seam side down into the pan.
  9. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Transfer the cooked phyllo pockets to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil and serve warm.

Notes

  • For an extra kick, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper to the filling.
  • You can replace the tuna with shredded chicken or cooked shrimp for a unique twist.
