Description
Keto Bangladeshi Fish Cutlets are a delightful and healthy twist on traditional fish fritters, perfect for those following a keto diet.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod)
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 green chili, finely minced (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to your taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Start by boiling a pot of water and gently add the fish fillets. Allow them to simmer for about 10 minutes or until fully cooked. Once done, drain the water and let the fish cool down.
- Once the fish has cooled, break it apart into small flakes and set it aside.
- In a frying pan, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent.
- Incorporate the minced garlic, ginger, and green chili, cooking for an additional couple of minutes.
- Add the cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and garam masala to the pan. Stir the spices for about a minute until they release their aromatic fragrance.
- In a large bowl, combine the flaked fish with the sautéed onion and spice mixture. Add the chopped cilantro and season with salt, mixing everything thoroughly.
- Incorporate the egg and almond flour into the fish mixture, ensuring everything is evenly blended.
- Form the mixture into small fritters, roughly 2-3 inches in diameter.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and carefully place the fritters in the pan. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
- Once cooked, transfer the fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Notes
- For a twist, consider adding finely chopped bell peppers or grated carrots to the fish mixture for extra crunch and flavor.
- If you prefer a healthier option, arrange the fritters on a greased baking sheet and bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through for even cooking.
