Description
Crispy Lettuce Shell Keto Tacos are a delicious low-carb alternative to traditional tacos, featuring a flavorful meat filling wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 8 large romaine or iceberg lettuce leaves
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Add the ground beef or chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- While the meat is cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry.
- To assemble the tacos, place a generous scoop of the meat mixture into each lettuce leaf. Top with shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, avocado slices, and a dollop of sour cream.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve immediately.
Notes
- For added flavor, consider adding sliced jalapeños or a squeeze of lime juice on top.
- You can also substitute the ground meat with shredded rotisserie chicken for a quicker option.
