Description
Ceviche Verde with Avocado Cream is a refreshing dish made with fresh fish, lime juice, and a creamy avocado topping.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh white fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod), diced
- 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 8 limes)
- 1 cup diced cucumber
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 avocado
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine the diced fish and lime juice. Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and ‘cooked’ by the acidity of the lime juice.
- While the fish is marinating, prepare the avocado cream. In a blender or food processor, combine the avocado, sour cream, olive oil, lime juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.
- After the fish is ready, drain any excess lime juice. Add the cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño, and salt to the fish. Gently toss to combine all ingredients.
- To serve, spoon the ceviche into bowls and drizzle with the avocado cream on top. Garnish with additional cilantro if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, leave some seeds in the jalapeño or add a dash of hot sauce to the ceviche.
- Substitute the white fish with shrimp or scallops for a different flavor profile. Adjust marinating time accordingly, as shrimp may require less time.
