Description

Baked Camembert with Garlic and Herbs is a delightful cheese dish that is perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz wheel of Camembert cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 French baguette, sliced for serving
  • Optional: honey or fig jam for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Remove the Camembert from its packaging and place it in a small, oven-safe dish or keep it in its wooden box if it’s safe for baking.
  3. Using a sharp knife, make a few shallow cuts on the top of the cheese in a crisscross pattern.
  4. Insert the sliced garlic into the cuts on the cheese.
  5. Drizzle the olive oil over the cheese and sprinkle with the chopped rosemary and thyme. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and gooey.
  7. While the cheese is baking, toast the sliced baguette in the oven for the last 5 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove the cheese from the oven and let it cool for a minute before serving. Drizzle with honey or fig jam if desired.
  9. Serve the warm, baked Camembert with the toasted baguette slices for dipping.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, add a sprinkle of smoked paprika before baking.
  • Try serving with fresh fruits like apple slices or grapes for a refreshing contrast.
