Description
A delicious Almond-Crusted Brie served with a homemade sugar-free berry sauce, perfect for a delightful appetizer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces of Brie cheese
- 1 cup of sliced almonds
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon of water
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 tablespoons of erythritol or your preferred sugar substitute
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and water.
- In another shallow bowl, combine the sliced almonds, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Dip the Brie cheese into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
- Coat the Brie in the almond mixture, pressing gently to ensure the almonds stick.
- Place the coated Brie on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the Brie in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and the almonds are golden brown.
- While the Brie is baking, prepare the berry sauce by combining the mixed berries, erythritol, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries break down and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove the berry sauce from heat and let it cool.
- Once the Brie is done baking, let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
- Drizzle the sugar-free berry sauce over the warm Brie and enjoy.
Notes
- For a sweeter berry sauce, add more erythritol to taste.
- You can substitute the mixed berries with your favorite berries or use a sugar-free jam for a quick sauce.
- For a savory twist, consider adding chopped fresh herbs like rosemary or basil to the almond coating.
