Description

A delicious Almond-Crusted Brie served with a homemade sugar-free berry sauce, perfect for a delightful appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces of Brie cheese
  • 1 cup of sliced almonds
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 2 tablespoons of erythritol or your preferred sugar substitute
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and water.
  3. In another shallow bowl, combine the sliced almonds, garlic powder, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip the Brie cheese into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off.
  5. Coat the Brie in the almond mixture, pressing gently to ensure the almonds stick.
  6. Place the coated Brie on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake the Brie in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and the almonds are golden brown.
  8. While the Brie is baking, prepare the berry sauce by combining the mixed berries, erythritol, and lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  9. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the berries break down and the sauce thickens slightly.
  10. Remove the berry sauce from heat and let it cool.
  11. Once the Brie is done baking, let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Drizzle the sugar-free berry sauce over the warm Brie and enjoy.

Notes

  • For a sweeter berry sauce, add more erythritol to taste.
  • You can substitute the mixed berries with your favorite berries or use a sugar-free jam for a quick sauce.
  • For a savory twist, consider adding chopped fresh herbs like rosemary or basil to the almond coating.
